Aria: The $175,000 Humanoid Robot Stealing the Spotlight at CES 2025

At the CES 2025 Technology Fair, one of the most relevant global events for technological innovation, Aria, a humanoid robot with a feminine appearance valued at $175,000, was unveiled. This space, known for being the stage where leading global brands conduct business and showcase their most revolutionary advancements, witnessed one of the most striking demonstrations: Aria, a robot powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and designed to interact in an almost human-like manner.

Aria, created by Realbotix, features 17 motors that control her facial expressions, allowing her to display realistic gestures. During an interview with Jesse Orrall from CNET magazine, the robot answered questions with elaborate responses, albeit with a slight touch of robotic clumsiness. Dressed in a black tracksuit, Aria exhibited brief pauses before speaking, accompanying her words with somewhat spasmodic hand and body movements, giving her a peculiar appearance, as if combining focused attention with a state of slight intoxication—something not uncommon among event attendees.

Realbotix, the company behind Aria and other humanoid robots, focuses on developing “social intelligence, personalization, and realistic human features.” According to Aria, these robots are specifically designed to provide companionship and intimacy, making them an interesting option for environments such as hospitals or theme parks, where emotional interactions are key.

Aria’s ability to engage in real-time conversations is powered by generative artificial intelligence, although specific details about her programming were not disclosed. Additionally, the robot features 17 motors in the upper body to control facial movements, such as those of the mouth and eyes. A standout feature is that her face can be replaced with others that attach magnetically, allowing for changes in appearance, hairstyles, and colors.

Realbotix is also exploring the incorporation of RFID tags into the interchangeable faces, which would enable the robot to recognize when it is wearing a different face and adjust its movements and even its personality accordingly. This innovative approach reflects the growing trend of AI and robotics toward personalization and integration into everyday environments, as seen in the CES 2025 motto: “Robots and AI want to be where you are.”
