Ransomware, also known as ransomware, is a type of malicious software (malware) that hijacks a victim’s data or device and demands a ransom in exchange for its release. The company Claro Centroamerica has been a victim after a week of difficulties in its networks, this past Friday the company gave a statement in this regard providing some information about the event. The impact has not only been in Nicaragua, but in the rest of Central America without any company official giving any explanation.

In Nicaragua, Claro sent a note to its clients explaining the detection of incidents related to ransomware on some of their computers.

The lack of timely communication by the Claro company owned by magnate Carlos Slim has generated a diversity of opinions, some understanding the situation and others demanding an explanation.

Users throughout the region, from Panama to Guatemala, have reported internet connection problems, difficulties with video calls and payment for electronic services.

The failure has alerted regulatory entities to review the quality of the service and fines have not been ruled out.

In Nicaragua, Telcor. The Nicaraguan sector regulator has urged Claro to take the necessary measures to restore service, however, problems persist.
