After several rumors, Apple CEO Tim Cook officially announced that artificial intelligence will be coming with the iOS 18 update to devices with A17 Pro and M1 processors.
Shortly after this announcement, Elon Musk, CEO of companies like Tesla, X, SpaceX, and Neuralink, made an important announcement for his employees: he will ban the use of Apple devices in his companies.
“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, Apple devices will be banned in my companies. This is an unacceptable security breach,” Musk stated on his X account.
Regarding visitors with Apple devices, Musk indicated: “Visitors will have to leave their Apple devices at the entrance, where they will be stored in the Faraday cage,” he noted.
Musk also expressed: “It’s clearly absurd that Apple is not capable enough to create its own AI and yet trusts that OpenAI will guarantee user security and privacy. Apple has no idea what really happens once they hand over your data to OpenAI. They are betraying your trust.”
What is Apple Intelligence and when will it arrive on devices with iOS 18?
This new technology was announced at WWDC 2024, where Tim Cook provided some details on how it will work and the devices it will support. The first requirement for users will be to have A17 Pro and M1 processors.
Although there is no official release date, it is known that this technology will come to iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.
With this new technology, Apple will say goodbye to its assistant ‘Siri’ and introduce a new artificial intelligence that will take its devices to a new level, including managing notifications, summarizing emails, and writing messages.
