Everything points to the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max featuring extremely thin bezels and larger-than-usual screens.
Apple aims to set a new record in September when it unveils the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. A new leak from China has revealed another detail about the front of these advanced models, which adds to the rumored 0.2-inch screen increase for each version. This information indicates that the bezels of both devices will significantly shrink in size.
Apple has not only focused on increasing the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro but also on reducing the bezel size. Combining these two improvements will allow the Cupertino company to offer devices with larger screens without significantly altering the overall dimensions.
Last week, several images were leaked showing a slight height difference between the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro. This suggests that the new model will be slightly taller, but not as much as expected, thanks to the supposed bezel reduction.
These Will Be the Bezels of the iPhone 16 Pro
Leaker Setsuna Digital has revealed the size of the new bezels for the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. According to him, he has had the devices in hand and has been able to verify the following figures:
- iPhone 16 Pro bezels: 1.2 mm
- iPhone 16 Pro Max bezels: 1.15 mm
For context, here are the figures for previous models:
- iPhone 15 Pro bezels: 1.71 mm
- iPhone 14 Pro bezels: 2.15 mm
For many, the bezels on the current iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are already very thin and provide a truly attractive front. However, Cupertino has found room for improvement and has trimmed these black edges by more than half a millimeter, specifically 0.51 mm.
The reduction in the iPhone 16 Pro will be larger than the previous reduction from the 14 Pro to the 15 Pro, which was 0.44 mm. It seems that the saying “the smaller it is, the harder it is to reduce” does not apply in Apple’s design offices.
Smaller Bezels and Larger Screens
If you haven’t been keeping up with the news about what Apple is preparing for the iPhone 16, you might not know that their screens will be larger. Most current rumors and leaks suggest that this feature is almost official, although it is not confirmed yet.
According to the main leakers, the new iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.3-inch screen, growing 0.2 inches from the current iPhone 15 Pro’s 6.1 inches. For the Max model, the increase will also be 0.2 inches, reaching 6.9 inches.
Therefore, this supposed increase in screen size, combined with the reduction in bezels, will offer iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models with larger screens, thinner bezels, and a slightly larger overall size, although not as much as if Apple had simply increased the screen’s diagonal.
