We all played Mario Bros as kids and even as adults, we were passionate about jumping and jumping again and again and we were amazed at what a game console could do in our imagination, but that was just the ABC of games, today games have reached unimaginable places, but our minds still do not assimilate what is to come with Generative AI, game creation will be something impressive and it is just the beginning.
Generative AI refers to a type of AI that can create new content, such as images, text, music, or code, from training data.
In the context of video games, this means that Generative AI can be used to create procedural game worlds and levels.
AI can generate unique level designs, varied landscapes, and structures impossible to predict by a human. Develop non-playable characters (NPCs) with dynamic personalities and stories. NPCs can adapt to player behavior, generate realistic dialogue, and even create their own side stories. Design branching and adaptable narratives. AI can generate different storylines based on player actions, creating a unique experience for each game.
Genie is a language model developed by Google AI that stands out for its ability to generate different creative text formats. Genie can write poems, scripts, musical pieces, emails, letters, etc. Answer questions in a complete and informative way. Genie accesses and processes information from the real world through Google Search to provide accurate and relevant answers. Adapt to different styles and tones: Genie can adjust its language and format to suit different audiences and purposes.
Genie can be used to create realistic and dynamic dialogues for NPCs: Genie can generate natural conversations that adapt to the context of the game and the player’s actions.
Design branching stories: Genie can generate different storylines based on player decisions, creating a unique gaming experience. Develop descriptions of objects and scenarios: Genie can generate vivid and attractive descriptions of the game world.
Despite its potential, Generative AI is still in an early stage of development. Some challenges that need to be addressed include the lack of control and predictability. Generative AI can generate unexpected or unwanted results. It is important to train AI models with diverse and representative data to avoid bias in the results. Another very valid limitation is the computational costs. Generative AI models may require high computing power for their training and use.
In summary, we can say that Generative AI has enormous potential to transform the video game industry. The Genie language model is a promising example of how AI can be used to create more dynamic, interactive and personalized gaming experiences. However, some challenges still need to be addressed for Generative AI to become a widely used tool in video game development.
