Akira Toriyama, the legendary mangaka creator of Dragon Ball, dies

The manga world is in mourning. Akira Toriyama, the iconic Japanese manga artist known for his masterpiece Dragon Ball, died on March 1 at the age of 68. The news was confirmed by his studio, Bird Studio, through an official statement.

Several generations grew up with the wonderful episodes of Dragon Ball, well, in my case I can say that I accompanied my son to see the chapters, the mangas and the Dragon Ball movie, although I have not been a fan of the comic, I can assure you that it is fabulous and iconic character.

An indelible legacy

Toriyama was born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1955. His career as an artist began at an early age, publishing his first manga in 1978. However, it was not until 1984 that he would achieve worldwide fame with the creation of Dragon Ball.

This manga series, which chronicles the adventures of Son Goku and his friends in search of the Dragon Balls, became a global phenomenon, inspiring generations of fans around the world. The success of Dragon Ball led to an extensive franchise that includes anime, films, video games and merchandising, establishing Toriyama as one of the most influential artists in the entertainment industry.

Beyond Dragon Ball

Despite the popularity of Dragon Ball, Toriyama also created other notable works such as Dr. Slump, Cowa! and Neko Majin. His characteristic artistic style, with expressive and humorous characters, became a trademark that differentiated him from the rest.
