TikTok Prepares New Version of Its Platform Ahead of Potential U.S. Sale, Reports Say

According to an exclusive report from The Information, TikTok is reportedly developing an updated version of its app specifically for the U.S. market. This move comes as part of negotiations for the platform’s potential sale to a consortium of American investors.

Sources indicate that the company plans to launch this new version on September 5, while the current app would cease to function by March 2025. However, the report notes that these dates could still change depending on circumstances.

If this transition moves forward, U.S. TikTok users would need to download the new app to continue using the service, as the current version would be deactivated.

This report follows recent comments from former President Donald Trump, who stated that his administration would begin talks with China to determine the platform’s future. He even suggested that a deal is “virtually finalized” for the sale of the popular short-video app.

It’s worth noting that last month, the U.S. government extended the TikTok ban deadline for the third time, pushing it to September 17. This delay highlights the complexity of the ongoing negotiations.

What do you think about these changes? Do you believe the new version will retain the same features? Share your thoughts in the comments!
