The manufacturer of mechanical keyboards, Qwertykeys, announced this Wednesday the suspension of all its shipments to the United States due to the new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on products from China. The company, based in Guangdong, attributed this decision to the announcement on February 1st, which imposes a 10% tariff on Chinese imports.

“This new regulation overrides all previous exemptions, including those for low-value shipments under $800,” the company explained. “As a result, all keyboards shipped from China to the U.S. are now subject to a 45% tariff on their total value.”

Additionally, the situation is further complicated by the logistics giant DHL’s decision to implement a “tariff deposit” and a new package processing fee of $21.

Qwertykeys has become one of the first Chinese hardware companies to completely halt its shipments due to the rapid increase in operational costs during Trump’s second term. These new tariffs are severely impacting smaller businesses, which operate with much narrower profit margins. It is likely that other companies will follow this example in the near future.
